Audience:
This course is for the experienced telecommunications professional involved in the day to day network planning and optimization of WCDMA (UMTS) networks.

Course Description:
Network deployment workshops are intended for RF engineers as a bridge between theoretical course and real life experience. The network deployment workshop provides the student with knowledge to efficiently use network deployment tools (network planning and network optimization) to successfully deploy a UMTS network.
|
Objectives:
This course enables the student to:
- Describe the optimization workshop structure and describe how the individual section objective contributes to the overall workshop objective.
- Describe the steps required for network deployment and the timing and people associated with these steps.
- Review of the type of tests to be performed during initial optimization: RF survey, AMR, CS64 data and PS data and describe the objectives/target of each steps.
- Review the setting of a limited set of parameters and their impact. Review of parameters limited to basic operation: Reselection, Handover and power control.
- Using scanner and/or UE log file, Identify limitation due to RF condition and recommend change in RF configuration and/or parameters to overcome these limitations.
- Using sample log files, identify typical RF problem signatures (depending on what can be found or simulate).
- Analyze UE idle logs to estimate the cell reselection performance and correlate these performances with the RF conditions, as measured with a PN scanner.
- Based on sample log files, analyze typical output to recognize typical failure scenario. Considering the typical failure scenario, recommend changes to improve the network performances.
